Editor: Insert Placeholders

Prerequisites

  • You have a document open in the Contract Editor.
  • The contract is in Draft or Revisions Requested status.
  • The toolbar is visible and editable.

Steps

  • 1. Open Insert Placeholder Dialog: Place the cursor on the desired part of the document. In the toolbar, click the Insert Placeholder icon. The Create Placeholder dialog appears.
  • 2. Enter Placeholder Name: In the Placeholder name field, type a variable name (e.g., CompanyName).
  • 3. Choose Capitalization: Select a capitalization option from the Capitalization dropdown: None, Title Case, Sentence Case, Upper Case, Lower Case.
  • 4. Create Placeholder: Click Create. The dialog closes and the placeholder is inserted at the cursor position.
  • 5. Verify Placeholder: Confirm the placeholder appears inline, e.g., {{ Company Name }}.

Tips

  • Use meaningful names to identify variables.
  • Choose capitalization to match document style.
  • Placeholders will be replaced during contract generation.
  • Use the variable popup menu to edit or remove placeholders.
